Double Sided Table Runner
Dear Quilter,
This Double Sided Runner is fun to make. Twice the enjoyment for the same effort. Make one side to match your dining room and side two for a festive holiday. I will give you the requirements for a runner 40" x 13 ½ ". if you want to make the runner longer obviously you will need more fabrics. It is best you if you choose one colour common to both sides for the binding. Lots of us have done Quilt as you go. And then had trouble piecing the squares together. This new approach should help you.
Side one: Area A -1 fat quarter
Area B - 1 fat quarter
Area C - 4 different fat eights or four strips 2", 2 ½" or 3" by 45".
Side two: Area A - 1 fat quarter
Area B - 1 fat quarter
Area C - 4 different fat eights or four strips 2", 2 ½" or 3" by 45".
Binding and sashing: ½ m.
Wadding: Cotton - ow loft works best or insulbrite if you want this to be heat resistant.
One (1) square 15" x 15" and three(3) squares 11" x 11".
Usual sewing kit, pins small scissors etc.
Thread to match main colour of both sides.
Rotary cutting equipment (mat, cutter and ruler) Shape cut (Optional) and Squaring up ruler (optional)
Washaway making pen or chalk.
Sewing machine in good working order, pedal, lead and manual.
Walking foot if you have one.
505 temporary adhesive spray (Optional)
Mariners Compass
MARINER'S COMPASS
The idea of this class is to design your own Mariner's compass and then to sew it by the foundation method. It is fun and does not take to long to do a simple design. I will hold your hand and guide you through all the steps.
If you don't want to design your own I will bring some patterns.
You will need to bring:
FABRIC:
Half metre of background fabric
Four fat quarters of colours for the compass. One should be a fat quarter as this will also be the binding. The others could be fat eights.
We may not need this on the day but you will need it to finish the project.
Wadding -Fat quarter.
Backing fabric. Calico or similar. 1 Fat quarter
Usual sewing kit.
Sewing machine in good working order and instruction book
Rotary cutting equipment (Mat, rulers and rotary cutter)
Add a quarter ruler and a post card.
One flower head pin.
15" or 18" square of freezer paper (if you are going to design your own)
10" square of freezer paper.
Pencil rubber
Coloured pencils (we can share if you don't have any.)
Set of compasses
Ruler
Paper scissors.
