" Scraps of fabric pre-cut into 3.5" squares
" At least 26 plainish Squares cut to 4"

" Any thread that you want to use up.
" Rotary cutter, square ruler (Between 8.5 - 12.5 " is ideal) and cutting mat.

" A selection of 10/12 fat quarters, or equivalent mix of fabrics. This works equally well as a colour themed or scrappy quilt. In this one I used black/white/grey fabrics, with red as an accent.
" 1-2 Packs of the pre-printed 'Crazy for You' foundation (Available from Threads and Patches). This is a fabric foundation which is not removed after sewing.
" Sewing machine with a new needle fitted and open (or clear) toed foot.

Fabric Landscapes Requirements List
" Heat n' Bond Ultra
" Small 'cutting out' Scissors
" Pencil, Ruler & Eraser
" Black felt tip pen or similar (Must be able to see/copy the line drawn through a sheet of paper)
" A4 paper - several sheets
" Fat quarter thin, inexpensive white fabric or stiff muslin.
" Any fabric pieces and scraps which you think would fit into landscape scenery eg. Sky/ water effects, mottled greys, greens (batiks can be wonderful).
An array of batik scraps will be available for rummage, selection and purchase on the day. Each picture will be your own unique creation.
Before the class - search out as many mountain, lake type landscape pictures or photos that you like and bring them along. There is a good website at www.trekearth.com which has thousands of photos including some inspirational landscapes - beware it's addictive.

I used Batik fabrics throughout, as I feel they give a more interesting and gentler effect.
0.5metre - For centre panel and wide border
LONG quarter (25cm off bolt) - For inner border & binding

A variety of autumnal shades for leaves, avoid heavy patterns. (A varigated Batik can give several interesting combinations, so have a good rootle round the shop)

This workshop introduces you to the uses and versatility of twin needles in your sewing machine. You will practice techniques and begin a panel for a cushion.
