2 plain fat quarters
polyester wadding, fat quarter size
Quilting needle and hand quilting thread
Tacking thread (any polyester or cotton thread will do it should be close to the colour of your fabric)
Washable fabric marker if working on a pale colour or Chacopy, ballpoint and masking tape for darker colours
Quilting safety pins
2 Thimbles or thimble pads
Quilting frame, if you do not already have one then we can look at what's available in the shop.
The fabric requirements will make the top of a cushion; if you want to complete the cushion you will need extra materials.

Requirements
Manual for your sewing machine,
2 fat quarters of plain Fabric and a fat quarter of wadding, this should be cotton or a cotton blend, please come with these three items layered and basted together (either pinned with curved safety pins or tacked with large stitches in a contrasting thread)as a quilt sandwich
Spare fabric and wadding to practise on. These should be the same as your sample piece
Coloured thread of your choice, please use a contrast thread and different colours for top and bottom -standard weight cotton, variegated cottons are interesting to work with.
Spare machine needles - size 80/ 70

Requirements
2 rectangles of fabric 15" x 20" or a strip 40" long
Cotton wadding 20" x15" please make sure it is a low loft this really is important.
Spare fabric and wadding to practise on ( use the off cuts from your sample piece)
Neutral thread and a coloured thread of your choice
Sewing machine with walking foot and darning foot, open toed makes things easier if you are going to buy a new foot. As this course is designed to show you how to quilt these feet are important.

Fat ¼ of blue fabric (for a traditional look) please don't bring a batik or tightly woven fabric as they are very hard to hand stitch
Piece of polyester wadding about 30cm square
Perlé thread number 5 (white for traditional) and a chenille sewing needle about size 22, one that will take the thread easily
Chacopy, ballpoint pen or marking tool and masking tape
Embroidery hoop if you prefer to use one for hand sewing

Fabric for File cover:
40cm of blue fabric (Sally's plain fabrics are perfect for this.) Please don't bring a tight weave fabric such as Batik as they are very hard to hand stitch.
Felt: a piece long enough to wrap around your file or book, 70 cm x 40cm is a good size for an A4 ring binder.
25cm square of contrast fabric if desired
Bondaweb, misty fuse or other to secure fabric to felt.
Trims as desired: cord (twice the length of the top edge of the file plus an extra 6in), embroidery thread, beads etc
Fabric for Bag:
1m for bag (or 70cm for outer and straps, 40cm for lining). Sally's plain fabrics are perfect for this. Please don't bring a tight weave fabric such as Batik as they are very hard to hand stitch, unless you would like to use one for the lining.
25cm square of contrast fabric if desired
For both projects:
Sashiko thread and needles (or DMC perlé 8 or 12 and a betweens needle that will take the thread work well.)
Chacopy, ball point pen or marking tool, masking tape
Embroidery ring if you prefer to use one for hand sewing to fit a 25cm square of fabric, please don't go and buy a new one, we can find a way to use whatever you have
Straight pins and tacking thread
Sewing machine, matching thread for finishing items, rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler
